Once inserted, never to be changed again.
1-Time coding means there is no need to change the white code key to calibrate the meter for each new vial of test strips.
Instead, simply insert the black activation key and leave it in the meter. These will be appearing in pack of test strips from December 2012 .
It will permanently replace the white code key, making it quicker and easier for you to test while retaining the same level of accuracy of test results as with the white code key.¹
Once you have inserted a black activation key into your Accu-Chek meter, you can discard all other code keys (black or white) you find in future packs of test strips. It is important to remember to check the expiration date printed on the vial of strips before doing a test.
Remember: The black activation key stays in place for as long as you use the meter.
The only strip designed to reduce waste, and resticking. 97% of tests will fill correctly on the very first try.
Easier blood application
Accu-Chek Performa test strips quickly attract and absorb a tiny drop of blood. The wide-mouth dosing area is designed so you can fill the strip on the very first try.
Small blood sample
You need just 0.6 microlitre of blood.
Easy strip handling
Accu-Chek Performa advanced chemistry test strips are able to be used by people who use medicines that contain or produce maltose.
A very small and closely monitored number of therapies contain maltose or produce maltose. These include:
Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and dry them well.
Put a test strip into the meter, and verify that the code number displayed on the screen matches the code number on test strip container.
Both a test strip and flashing blood drop symbol will appear on the display.
With a lancing device such as Accu-Chek Softclix or Accu-Chek Multiclix, lance the side of a fingertip (or alternate site if appropriate). Gently squeeze the fingertip to produce a small drop of blood.
Touch the drop of blood to the tip of the yellow end of the test strip, not on top of the strip or window. A flashing hourglass symbol and a beep indicates enough blood has been applied. If necessary, more blood can be applied within 5 seconds. The result appears on the display.
In addition to fingertip testing, the Accu-Chek Performa Nano system can be used for testing on alternate sites, including the forearm, palm, upper arm, thigh or calf. Alternate site testing (AST) requires the use of a special lancing cap. Consult your healthcare professional to see if alternate site testing is suitable for you.
