Waikato People Prove Pumps Effective

Bravo to people using insulin pumps in the Waikato over the past few years. A clinical study1 has been based on the data of 150 Waikato pump users between 1997 and 2004. The study enabled the authors to confirm that insulin pumps are indeed effective and that “wider usage of this technology in New Zealand is warranted”

Do I Really Need All Those Blood Tests?

Well, research has shown that there's a direct correlation between how often people test and how well their blood glucose is controlled. Top Tip

Keeping insulin cool and fresh in summer

In summer time as a pumper, I have noticed that the best way to avoid high levels related to insulin losing it’s effectiveness is to fill the insulin cartridge inside the pump with insulin for JUST 3 DAYS max. Pumpers with small basal e.g. below 0.6 u /h should try this tip. I do see an enormous difference in my daily glucose values.
