Dear Accu-Chek Reader
At last! Summer and the holiday season is nearly here. Whether you're off to the beach or working right through, we want you to be safe and well. So take a couple of minutes to read the important information below about changing your cannula.

Sadly, many New Zealanders aren't doing this as often as they should and are getting infections, scar tissue and problems with their insulin. You need to know about this, so read on and find out how to keep yourself safe and well...and free to enjoy a long, hot summer.
Important update: how often to change your cannula

Are you leaving your cannula in too long? Quite probably.

And, sad to say, that will cause problems for you. Apart from causing soreness, infection and inflammation, it could also interfere with your insulin.

How to avoid scar tissue, bumpy lumps, and insulin resistance

If you've been using an insulin pump at the same site for a while, you may have noticed that you're starting to get scar tissue. You might even be developing a thick mass of tissue under the skin.

And if you're starting to get higher blood glucose levels, it may be because your insulin isn't being properly absorbed through the scarred site.

Changing your infusion site can prevent these problems.

You've got choices

Exclusive to Accu-Chek - buy cannulas separately

OK. So you know how often to change your cannula. But what about your tubing?

That's different. Tubing only needs to changed with every alternate cannula change. And that means you need more cannulas than tubing.

At Accu-Chek, we make that easy. With us, you can buy extra cannulas. As many as you need. Better still, you can use Accu-Chek infusion sets with almost any brand or model of insulin pump.

So save yourself trouble and money - click here to find out more.
What do others think?

Practical and easy are two words that feature a lot in the recent survey of Accu-Chek Spirit customers in Germany.

Interestingly, the survey also finds out what's the most popular infusion set, cannula and tubing.
